Filming continues for Suicide Squad and while we do love having the A-List Cast in the City, local Businesses and Commuters are starting to see the impacts of reduced handle and increased commute times respectively.
A strip of Yonge Street was shut down by Eaton Centre last night and Onlookers got to witness a positively cool Spectacle as The Joker (played by Jared Leto) – or his Body Double at least – sped along the Street. The Batmobile even made an appearance.
A quick look:
Filming wrapped almost at 7 AM, as one by one Cast Members Karen Fukuhara, Margot Robbie, Jay Hernandez, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney and Adewale made their way back to Wardrobe, sporting some physical wear and tear in their makeup, indicating somewhat of a physical scene being filmed in an interior. We caught-up with some of the Cast who despite it being a really long day on-set, still made time to say “hi” before wrapping. Courtney who normally is quiet on-set, patiently stopped for Fans via a roll-down of his window and was wowed by my Camera. “Wow! A Selfie on a Long Lens. Nice!”, he said.
Robbie who consistently is not doing Selfies on-set, much to the disappointment of Fans, signed a sea of Autographs, noticing one Fan who brought along some Suicide Squad Ball Caps which impressed her. She took one home even! This weekend one lucky Fan at Varsity Cinemas was lucky to get a Selfie with the lovely Aussie.
I’M SPEECHLESS. She came to our theatre today again I asked her like “Are you someone who I’m thinking?”, then she nicely answered yes. She was nice enough to take selfie of us and give me an autograph. Nothing can bother me now. What a wonderful day! #MargotRobbie#australian#actress#Thewolfofwallstreet#NaomiLapaglia#Focus#JessBarrett#Suicidesquad#HarleyQuinn#selfie#autogragh#cineplex A photo posted by Yujiro William Sekiguchi (@shikkuro24) on
Hernandez stuck to his word, promising a quick moment with Fans, pulling over his Van to sign everything passed his way and surprisingly was quick to remove his El Diablo skeletal makeup. Kinnaman despite looking most tired, was kind to get out of his SUV to greet Fans. Class Act.
Filming continues through the Downtown Core this week before heading again off-location back to Pinewood Studio.

Filming is kicking into high gear for David Ayer‘s Suicide Squad, taking place much overnight of late. The Mega Blockbuster starring an A-List Cast as some of DC Comics‘ most beloved Supervillains shut down part of Financial District last night and among those on-Set were the likes of Margot Robbie, Will Smith, Scott Eastwood, Jai Courtney, Jay Hernandez and more.
We spotted Robbie in full costume, dressed as Harley Quinn and Smith also as Deadshot, as they head off to work for the night. Hernandez‘s El Diablo also was seen in full skull makeup through the window his van, waving to Fans. Although Plot details are under tight wraps, a Child actress was seen heading to set, hence some are speculating filming may have involved some type of a flashback for Robbie‘s Quinn.
Smith, Robbie and Eastwood were more than generous to stop for Fans in the wee hours of the morning post-wrap before heading to rest before another night shoot ahead. Filming moves north to the Yorkville area the next few days.

Suicide Squad films through August in the City, with a release via Warner Bros. Pictures Canada August 2016.

Growing up in the ’90s, it was impossible to avoid the influence of Megastar Will Smith. Few back then would guess the Actor and Rapper known best for his starring role in Sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air would have a Career which would see multiple Golden Globe, Oscar and Grammy nominations. He proved Naysayers wrong time and again with one foot firmly planted on each side of the Entertainment World in Acting and Music.
Smith has been balancing time in Toronto with his Family and Friends, with Wife Jada and Son Jaden coming to visit him, and also a starring Role in Supervillain Opus, Suicide Squad, which films here through late August. Just this past weekend, Smith paid back his current Trainer for the Film, Anya Ells, a favour attending a Party she organized for Fitness Model, Michelle Lewin at Maison Mercer.
Playing the Role of Deadshot, who is an Enemy of Batman, we saw Ben Affleck and Smith arrive quietly on-set tonight in the wee hours of the morning situated around Financial District. Affleck was covered completely in a cape to avoid the leak of a Storyline and it is said that he already has finished his work on the Film. Despite being covered, the silhouette of his mask could be seen under the fabric in some Paparazzi-taken Photos.
After a nine-hour wait, we were rewarded with a moment with Smith, who was driven over to Fans waiting on-location, getting out of his SUV to greet them. We gave Smith a quick handshake telling him what a pleasure it was meeting him and after pointing-out that we shared the same name, he called me “Big Willie Style” – the name of his debut 1997 Disc.

Jada Pinkett Smith needs little introduction. The talented Actress known best for her work in The Matrix Trilogy, Set it Off, Scream 2, A Different World and more recently as Fish Mooney in Gotham (sadly, she isn’t returning for another Season), currently is in town enjoying some quality time with her Family.
Husband Will Smith currently is in Toronto filming DC Comics‘ star-studded Suicide Squad through August and some of the other Stars at his Residence tell me they have spotted him working-out at the Gym in preparation for his highly-physical role. Glad we’re not the only ones who are starstruck! Coincidentally, Gotham also is brought to us by DC Comics, keeping it in the Family!
Smith has been cast in the Role of Deadshot and by chance we crossed paths with Pinkett Smith, who was headed for an appointment. Despite little make-up, she looked just stunning and she was amazingly gracious to snap a Selfie! We appreciate The Smiths are private so we are extra grateful for the gesture. Adore her!

Known best for his work in Eastbound and Down, MADtv and more recently Neighbors and The Mindy Project, Funnyman Ike Barinholtz now sets his sights on Film with recent news of his casting in David Ayer‘s Suicide Squad. The Film based on DC Comics’ popular Comic Book Series, sees a group of imprisoned Superheroes tasked with dangerous Black Ops missions in exchange for clemency.
Word is that Ayer (End of Watch, Training Day) will have his Cast go to some deep, dark places as the Film begins filming tomorrow in Toronto.
Barinholtz was spotted out and about earlier today doing a quick grocery run, stopping for a moment to take Photos with Fans, noticeably fitter and almost unrecognizable in his Aviator sunglasses. The Cast this weekend were spotted partying at Sound Academy on Will Smith‘s tab, one last hurrah before they head to work this week.
See Will Smith rap at the Party, video courtesy of Co-Star Jim Parrack. Could this be signs of new material from him on the Soundtrack?
Stars Scott Eastwood and Cara Delevingne appeared to be absent, the former partying at Coachella right now, after an aggressive Promo Tour for The Longest Ride and the latter attending MTV Movie Awards festivities in Los Angeles. Jared Leto was spotted sporting his green Joker hair proudly on the streets earlier this afternoon as well!

You know him quite literally as the Sidekick in pretty much everything. Adrian Martinez has starred in over 80 titles, stealing scenes alongside an A-list Resume of talent including Ben Stiller, Will Ferrell, Christian Bale and now Will Smith in smart new Action-RomCom, FOCUS.
The personable Funnyman was in Toronto recently to promote the Blockbuster which hopes to whet the appetites of Moviegoers craving both tough punches and romance this Valentine’s Day. The Movie centers on an experienced Con Artist Nicky (Smith) and the stunning Jess (Margot Robbie), whom he takes under his wing. Passions flare after he finds himself with conflicting emotions, careful not to let her in too deep, ultimately the two are torn apart. Fast-forward a few years and the two reunite under the most unlikely circumstances. The bonds of trust are broken and the Story takes us through several unexpected twists and turns. Will Nicky and Jess be able to make it through together, or will danger separate them as the stakes (and risks) are multiplied exponentially as other powerful figures enter the picture?
Chatting with a select group of Digital Journalists, Martinez gives candid responses about the many talented Actors he has worked with, coming a far way certainly since his one-liner debut in an Unsolved Mysteries re-enactment.
Martinez in FOCUS plays the frank, forward and multi-disguised Sidekick Farhad to Smith‘s slick Nicky, one of the few people whom the latter trusts fully. He tells us that truly he connected with this Character. “I read the Script and didn’t see the ending coming. A lot of Movies are formulaic. This one took a lot of nice twists and turns and I wanted to be a part of it”, says Martinez. “Farhad is extremely faithful to Nicky and I am faithful to-the-death to my Family and Friends being a Scorpio, and that was common ground in how to build the Character.”. “He doesn’t know everything, but he knows he has to protect his Boss (Nicky).”.
On how to play a Criminal, he says “You have to be authentic when bullsh*tting. Same thing with acting. You’re using real emotions to sell imaginary situations”. “It’s similar to being a Con-Man in that regard.”.
But does Martinez consider himself a Character Actor? “I consider myself a Lead Actor in a character suit. Like Wilson in Cast Away” he jokes, “Now he has balls.”. He adds, “Character Actors represent a tradition in acting that you need in Movies.”. “We need these kind of Actors. Not everyone can look like Will Smith or Margot Robbie, so you need these Actors to counterbalance that by grounding and putting it all into perspective.”.
I ask him of the many people he has worked with, just who inspires him most. He equates Will Ferrell much like a “Banker” off-camera – not particularly funny. “The moment he yells ‘Action!’, he is right there with the humour and timing.”. Ben Stiller is commended for what Martinez calls “mind-blowing work ethic”, pulling-in easily 16 hour work days on-set and after the day has wrapped. And although most of his work was cut from American Hustle, he jokes “Thankfully the cheque cleared!”. “I do still love Jennifer Lawrence.”.
On his experience working with Will Smith, he recalls some fond memories and feeling gratitude. “There was a sense of community and party in the air. Will would start dancing at 3 am around the Superdome (a key scene involves a high stakes Football bet). He brings this relentless sense to every take of ‘I’m really gonna f*ckin’ go for it, man!'”. Martinez recalls Smith‘s gym-equipped Trailer being the size of a block. “He is in another league in terms of work ethic”, he comments on Smith‘s physical preparation for the role of Nicky. “Meanwhile I’m like, do I choose the multigrain bagel or Cheerios?”, he laughs.
Martinez also has high praise for the stunning Margot Robbie, whom he works closely with in a few scenes in FOCUS, crediting her for making “smart choices”. “She was all ‘I’m not gonna let this guy throw me!’ and it really was a Chess Match with her.”. “She’s gorgeous, intelligent and grounded. Awesome like a Jane Bond.”.
Although often we see a comedic side to Martinez on-screen, he reveals plans for something big in-the-works. “Time-Warner and I are co-creating a Project. It’s still funny, but saucy”, he tells us before stopping himself. “I’m not supposed to talk about it, but it’s gonna be good.”.
And speaking of good, word is Martinez is a huge Fan of Poutine! We hear he loved the Pasta Poutine at his Toronto Hotel very much. Honourary Canadian.

Funny, touching and sweet, you must witness the magic of how one Song has touched the hearts of multiple generations here.
Official Synopsis:
Academy Award® nominee Quvenzhané Wallis (Beasts of the Southern Wild) stars as Annie, a young, happy foster kid who’s also tough enough to make her way on the streets of New York in 2014. Originally left by her parents as a baby with the promise that they’d be back for her someday, it’s been a hard knock life ever since with her mean foster mom Miss Hannigan (Cameron Diaz). But everything’s about to change when the hard-nosed tycoon and New York mayoral candidate Will Stacks (Jamie Foxx) – advised by his brilliant VP, Grace (Rose Byrne) and his shrewd and scheming campaign advisor, Guy (Bobby Cannavale) – makes a thinly-veiled campaign move and takes her in. Stacks believes he’s her guardian angel, but Annie’s self-assured nature and bright, sun-will-come-out-tomorrow outlook on life just might mean it’s the other way around.

We’ve been waiting so long for this! Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling once were considered for it. Then Ben Affleck and Kristen Stewart were attached and now ultimately, we have Will Smith and Margot Robbie. We don’t care who’s in it, we just need to see it. FOCUS from Crazy, Stupid, Love. Directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa has far too long been in development but alas, Warner Bros. has just released these first images and a Trailer from the Action-Comedy (above).

Brace yourselves for an Aussie Invasion, Moviegoers! After winning much acclaim back in her native Australia, 23-year-old Actress Margot Robbie has her sights set stateside and although she’s currently filming the Comedy Focus, opposite Will Smith, she next can be seen opposite another Hollywood Heavyweight, Leonardo DiCaprio.
She certainly didn’t start right at the top though. In fact, the Gold Coast-born and raised Actress is a bit of an acting Veteran after winning LOGIE Awards in Australia for her work on long-running Soap Opera Neighbours as Donna Freedman, originally intended only as a Guest Role. Those of you who saw About Time last month starring Rachel McAdams and Domhnall Gleason, will remember her as Charlotte and Fans of ABC’s short-lived PAN AM will remember her as Laura Cameron.
The stunning Star, most easily recognized by her sunny blonde locks and brunette eyebrows, appears in Martin Scorecese‘s almost NC-17-rated The Wolf of Wall Street as Naomi Lapaglia, love interest of Jordan Belfort (DiCaprio). “What’s wrong Daddy?”, she asks teasingly in its mega-mesmerizing Trailer.
See the Trailer below:
As a bit of a Fun Fact, Robbie apparently has been known to visit Canada to snowboard!
