The Demigods descended upon Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con today, where thousands of fans were treated to a tidal wave of announcements and exclusive debuts for the epic Disney+ Original series “Percy Jackson and the Olympians.”
The star-studded Hall H panel featured series leads Walker Scobell (Percy Jackson), Leah Sava Jeffries (Annabeth Chase), Aryan Simhadri (Grover Underwood), Charlie Bushnell (Luke Castellan), Dior Goodjohn (Clarisse La Rue) and Canada’s Daniel Diemer (Tyson) alongside executive producers Jonathan E. Steinberg, Dan Shotz and Craig Silverstein. Moderated by actor-comedian Timothy Simons — who also stars as Tantalus in the series — the panel treated fans to an exciting peek of the upcoming season, including the debut of a brand-new teaser featuring a first look at the fan-favourite cyclops, Tyson.
Via a special video message, executive producer and creator Rick Riordan revealed that the highly anticipated second season of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians,” which filmed in Vancouver, will premiere December 10, 2025, exclusively on Disney+.
Additionally, Riordan announced that casting is complete for two fan-favourite demigods — and children of Hades — Nico di Angelo and his sister Bianca, who will join the series in its third season. Levi Chrisopulos is set to star as Nico, a series regular, with Olive Abercrombie appearing in a recurring role as Bianca. Production on Season 3 is set to begin soon.
Percy Jackson fans in San Diego can also step into “The Percy Jackson Experience” – an immersive activation that will be open to the public directly outside the San Diego Convention Center. The experience takes fans beyond the mist and on a quest into the mythological world of the series.
Season 2 of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” is based on “The Sea of Monsters,” the second installment of Disney Hyperion’s bestselling book series by acclaimed author Rick Riordan. After Camp Half-Blood’s protective border is breached, Percy Jackson embarks on an epic odyssey into the Sea of Monsters in search of his best friend Grover and the one thing that may save the camp — the Golden Fleece. With help from Annabeth, Clarisse and his newfound cyclops half-brother Tyson, Percy’s survival is crucial in the fight to stop Luke, the Titan Kronos, and their impending plan to bring down Camp Half-Blood — and ultimately, Olympus.
Created by Rick Riordan and Jonathan E. Steinberg, Season 2 of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” is executive produced by Steinberg and Dan Shotz alongside Rick Riordan, Rebecca Riordan, Craig Silverstein, The Gotham Group’s Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Bert Salke, The Gotham Group’s Jeremy Bell and D.J. Goldberg, James Bobin, Jim Rowe, Albert Kim, Jason Ensler and Sarah Watson.
The second season of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” stars Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, Aryan Simhadri, Charlie Bushnell, Dior Goodjohn and Daniel Diemer.
Meanwhile, the first season of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” is available on Disney+.
With a Cast that boast stars like Matt Damon and Jodie Foster, resistance is futile for Moviegoers and such was the case at the Box Office this weekend as Sony Pictures’ Elysium nabs the top spot at the Box Office with $30.5 million from 3,280 theatres. More impressively, Sci-Fi Flick did this with the handicap of an R-rating in the U.S., made for a budget of $98 million. With above average reviews overall from Critics (66% on the Tomatometer at Rotten Tomatoes), Audiences gave it a “B” CinemaScore.
Debuting in second was Warner Bros.’ We’re the Millers which actually opened on Wednesday, but over the three-day weekend it grossed $26.6 million from 3,260 theatres. Since Wednesday, it has made over $38 million already. Starring Jennifer Aniston and Jason Sudeikis, the Comedy earned a great A- CinemaScore from Audiences, and 41% from Critics on the Tomatometer. The Film was made for $37 million – already paying its bill.
Disney’s Planes 3-DÂ featuring the Voicework of Dane Cook, gave Families an option at the theatres this weekend, debuting in 3,709 theatres with $22.5 million. Audiences give it an A- Cinemascore, while Critics gave it a 25% rating at Rotten Tomatoes.
Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, based on the popular Novels and second Film in the Franchise, debuts with $14.6 million from 3,031 theatres for 20th Century Fox, good enough for fourth spot with a B+ CinemaSCore and 34% on the Tomatometer. By comparison, the first Installment in 2010 earned $31.2 million in its debut.
Meanwhile, last week’s Champ, 2 Guns, slips to fourth spot with $11.1 million from 3,028 theatres, a cumulative total of $48 million in two weeks for Universal Pictures/eOne Films.
The Conjuring continues to scare audiences with $6.5 million in its fourth week, a total of $120.5 earned thus far domestically. Grown-Ups 2 rounds-out the Top Ten with $3.8 million for Sony Pictures in its fifth week.
Beautiful and burgeoning, Alexandra Daddario is a name to look-out for. The Star of VVS Films’ upcoming Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D already boasts an incredible RĂ©sumĂ© and you may actually recognize her from her work on Parenthood, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Percy Jackson & the Olympians and White Collar.
Looking a vision of festivity in pink, Daddario was out at Global Television‘s The Morning Show earlier today promoting the eagerly-awaited Remake which sees a young Woman have to travel to Texas with her Friends to collect an inheritance… only to run into a Chainsaw-wielding Maniac. Don’t you bloody hate it when that happens? The Horror is poised to scare the heck out of Moviegoers next month when it sees a release.
“Thanks so much for standing out in the cold for me”, Daddario says with gratitude. I clarified that what we’re experiencing here in Toronto actually is considered mild and she comments back, “Oh believe me, I know – I’m from New York!”.
So get this, the Actress was incredibly sweet to sign a Photo for me, which I am going to give away to a lucky Reader. If you’re interested, simply click “like” on this Post at Mr. Will Wong on Facebook – I’ll pick one of you at random early January!
