A hopeful young and loving couple (Grace and Jackson) move from New York to an inherited house in the country. Grace tries to find her identity with a new baby in the isolated environment. Yet as she begins to unravel, it’s not in weakness but imagination, strength and a stunning untamed vivacity that she discovers herself anew.
Set in rural America, Die My Love is a portrait of a woman engulfed by love and madness. It stars Jennifer Lawrence (Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle), Robert Pattinson (Mickey 17, The Batman), LaKeith Stanfield (Judas and the Black Messiah, The Book of Clarence), Nick Nolte (Cape Fear, 48 Hours, The Prince of Tides), and Sissy Spacek (Carrie, Coal Miner’s Daughter, In the Bedroom).
The film received its World Premiere at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year. Jennifer Lawrence has since been awarded the Donostia Award at the San Sebastian Film Festival, and been nominated for a Gotham Award for Outstanding Lead Performance. Die My Love was also nominated for seven British Independent Film Awards including Best Director for Lynne Ramsay and Best Lead Performance for Jennifer Lawrence, and went on to win two for Best Cinematography and Best Music Supervision.
DIRECTOR STATEMENT
At the heart of this story is the complexity of love and how it can change and transform over time. I aimed to keep it grounded, human, spontaneous and funny at times, capturing the moments that feel small but carry a lot of weight. This film is for anyone who’s ever been in a relationship – there’s heartbreak and beauty in vulnerability.

SYNOPSIS
FATHER MOTHER SISTER BROTHER is a feature film, though carefully constructed in the form of a triptych. The three stories all concern the relationships between adult children, their somewhat distant parent (or parents), and each other. Each of the three chapters takes place in the present, and each in a different country.
FATHER is set in the Northeast US, MOTHER in Dublin, Ireland, and SISTER BROTHER in Paris, France. The film is a series of character studies, quiet, observational and non-judgmental –a comedy, but interwoven with threads of melancholy
DIRECTOR STATEMENT
FATHER MOTHER SISTER BROTHER is a kind of anti-action film, its subtle and quiet style carefully constructed to allow small details to accumulate – almost like flowers being carefully placed in three delicate arrangements. Collaborations with the masterful cinematographers Frederick Elmes and Yorick Le Saux, the brilliant editor Affonso Gonçalves and other frequent collaborators elevate what started as words on a page into a form of pure cinema.
MUBI, the global film distributor, streaming service and production company, today announces the April 2025 launch of its global publishing arm, MUBI Editions, a new publisher dedicated to cinema and the arts.
Defined by a thought-provoking list and featuring unique design collaborations, MUBI Editions will publish across a range of formats and genres, and, in doing so, will broaden the horizons of what cinema-related publishing can be. With the first book to launch in 2025, MUBI Editions will publish 2-3 titles in its inaugural year.
MUBI Editions marks an exciting new chapter for MUBI, building on their long history of championing cinema culture through both film viewing and film publishing. Originally founded in 2007 by Efe Cakarel as a curated streaming service with the mission to make great cinema accessible to global audiences, MUBI’s first foray into publishing was the launch of the online publication, Notebook, which explores what’s most exciting in global film culture. In 2016, MUBI started releasing movies by visionary filmmakers into theaters around the world, bringing its vision of curation from the digital to the physical world. In 2021, Notebook expanded to also encompass a globally-distributed, biannual print magazine. Now, MUBI continues their commitment to publishing by launching MUBI Editions.
Through its distinctive range of books, MUBI Editions intends to play a meaningful role in fostering a global community of engaged, art-loving viewers and readers—now and into the future.
MUBI Editions will publish across four core series: Projections, books dedicated to the world of film culture and history; Auteurs, books and art objects made in close collaboration with renowned artists and filmmakers; Internegatives, republications of rare, out of-print, or newly translated texts and Lights!, books that explore and expand MUBI’s productions and releases.
MUBI Editions will launch in April 2025 with a book encapsulating its core ambitions. Read Frame Type Film, prepared in collaboration with the Centre Pompidou in Paris, is a richly illustrated title living at the intersection of film, visual history, and design.
From credits to subtitles to title cards and beyond, texts play a critical part in the structure of a film. Yet, away from the world of mainstream cinema, these textual—and visual—elements have often been overlooked. In Read Frame Type Film, curator Enrico Camporesi, design historian Catherine de Smet, and designer Philippe Millot aim to address this gap by focusing on an often neglected field: experimental and artists’ films. They bring their extensive research and expertise to a discussion of 24 works from the film collection at the Centre Pompidou that offer unique perspectives on the affinity between cinema and typography. Composed of a series of rich explorative texts, accompanying specially commissioned photography of analog film strips from the collection, the book is itself an experimental object, in which text and images mirror one another.
Read Frame Type Film will publish in April 2025. Pre-orders are available from today, December 2, 2024.
MUBI Editions is also delighted to reveal that, alongside direct sales through their website, mubieditions.com, its exclusive worldwide distribution partners will be Thames & Hudson (Global ex. US and Canada) and Distributed Art Publishers (US and Canada).
MUBI Editions will launch with a new visual identity, echoing the iconic MUBI logo. Taking inspiration from MUBI’s seven dots, MUBI Editions will be identified by seven lines that, at once, represent spines of books and evoke the early animation device, the zoetrope. This interlinking of art forms further emphasizes MUBI’s passion for both film and publishing.
Daniel Kasman, Vice President of Editorial Content says: “Since its founding, MUBI has always seen publishing as a key element of connecting cinema with global audiences. With MUBI Editions, we are building upon the great work done by our online and print publication, Notebook, and going even further: to start a new publishing arm dedicated to exploring the beauty and richness of the seventh art. In doing so, MUBI will continue to deepen its mission to bring audiences around the world together through their love of great movies and the culture and history of cinema.”
MUBI, the global film distributor, streaming service and production company is pleased to announce that artist William Kentridge’s extraordinary, expansive Self- Portrait As A Coffee-Pot will be available to watch worldwide exclusively on MUBI from October 18, 2024, following special previews at Toronto International Film Festival and BFI London Film Festival and its presentation at the Arsenale Institute for the Politics of Representation, curated by Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev, during the Venice Biennale of Art 2024.
Laying bare the creative process, Self-Portrait As A Coffee- Pot is a dazzling, nine-episode film series by South African artist William Kentridge, renowned for his animated drawings for projection, as well as his sculpture, theatre and opera productions over the last forty years.
Shot in his Johannesburg studio during and in the aftermath of the 2020–2022 COVID-19 pandemic and inspired in part by Charlie Chaplin, Dziga Vertov and the innovative wit of early cinema, this lively series of distinct but interconnected vignettes, at turns humorous, philosophical, political and probing, is a hymn to artistic freedom and the power of imagination, even when confronted with the challenge of isolation in enclosed spaces.
Bringing together hand-drawn animations, collage, performance and music, as well as dialogues with collaborators and doppelgängers, the series invites us to step inside the intimacy of the studio, where shared discoveries about culture, history and politics, and profound truths about the ways we live and think today are uncovered through the making of works of art.
Marking the launch of the release in October 2024, the films will screen for three days in an immersive intervention at Hauser & Wirth 18th Street in New York.
Additionally, a series of conversations, hosted by William Kentridge with special guests, will also take place each of the three nights, from October 22-24. Further details to be announced.
William Kentridge says: “Self-Portrait as a Coffee Pot is a series made to offer viewers a sense and spirit of possibility, from an artist’s perspective. It is intended as a polemic experience about a way of working, a confidence in giving an image the benefit of the doubt, and seeing what emerges… At its heart this is really a series about the optimism and agency of making, itself. There’s an inherent optimism in the activity of taking the blank piece of paper at the beginning and having something at the end. If there’s a central argument I have to offer and engage audiences, it would be the defense of an optimism of making.”
An exciting innovation for both the filmed entertainment and art worlds, the release represents an unprecedented combination of fine art acquisition and streaming rights. It marks the first time that MUBI has acquired exclusive global rights to a series edition of a work of art – the first of a limited number of editions of Self-Portrait As A Coffee-Pot sold by the artist’s galleries.
The nine-episode series, created and directed by William Kentridge, is executive produced by Rachel Chanoff and Noah Bashevkin of THE OFFICE PERFORMING ARTS + FILM, Joslyn Barnes of LOUVERTURE FILMS and the WILLIAM KENTRIDGE STUDIO, and edited by Walter Murch, Janus Fouché and Žana Marović.
