#FIRSTLOOK: NEW SEASON TWO “DOCTOR WHO” TRAILER

Today, Disney+ released a new trailer for season two of “Doctor Who.” In the trailer, audiences see the Doctor and his new companion Belinda Chandra as they adventure across time and space, from a futuristic 51st century to the 803rd Interstellar Song Contest to becoming animated characters, a first for the “Doctor Who” series.

Tune-in: Season two premieres Saturday, April 12, 2025 (12am PT / 3am ET) on Disney+. New episodes from the eight-part season will premiere weekly.

Today, Disney Branded Television and the BBC jointly announced that season two of “Doctor Who” will premiere Saturday, April 12 (12:00 a.m. PDT / 3:00 a.m. EDT) on Disney+. New episodes from the eight-part season will premiere weekly.

Emmy® Award winner Alan Cumming (“The Traitors”) will guest star in the second episode as Mr Ring-a-Ding, a happy, funny, singalong cartoon, who lives in Sunny Town with his friend Sunshine Sally. However, in 1952, after years of repeats in cinemas across the land, Mr Ring-a-Ding suddenly looks beyond the screen and sees the real world outside — and the consequences are terrifying. Cumming is returning to the Whoniverse after previously playing King James I in the 2018 episode “The Witchfinders.”

Today, Disney+ released the official trailer for the eagerly awaited “Doctor Who” Christmas Special, “Joy to the World,” ahead of the December 25 premiere Dec. 25, 2025 (9:10 a.m. PST / 12:10 p.m. EST).

Synopsis: When Joy checks into a London hotel in 2024, she opens a secret doorway to the Time Hotel — discovering danger, dinosaurs and the Doctor. But a deadly plan is unfolding across the Earth, just in time for Christmas.

Cast: The special stars Ncuti Gatwa (“Sex Education”) as the Doctor and Nicola Coughlan (“Bridgerton”) as Joy. Additional cast includes Steph de Whalley as Anita, Jonathan Aris as Melnak, Joel Fry as Trev, Peter Benedict as Basil, Julia Watson as Hilda and Niamh Marie Smith as Sylvia.

#FIRSTLOOK: “DOCTOR WHO” SPINOFF “THE WAR BETWEEN THE LAND AND THE SEA” ANNOUNCED AT SDCC 2024

Disney Branded Television and BBC jointly announced “The War Between The Land And The Sea,” an all-new “Doctor Who” spinoff, today at San Diego Comic-Con. Leading the five-part series is Russell Tovey (“Feud,” “American Horror Story: NYC”) and Gugu Mbatha-Raw (“Surface,” “Loki”), alongside returning “Doctor Who” cast members Jemma Redgrave (as Kate Lethbridge-Stewart) and Alexander Devrient (as Colonel Ibrahim).

When a fearsome and ancient species emerges from the ocean, dramatically revealing themselves to humanity, an international crisis is triggered. With the entire population at risk, UNIT steps into action as the land and sea wage war. Created by “Doctor Who” showrunner and executive producer Russell T Davies, who wrote the spinoff with Pete McTighe (“A Discovery of Witches,” “The Pact,” “Doctor Who”), the series features the triumphant return of the Sea Devils, classic “Doctor Who” villains first seen in 1972.

Davies said: “I’m so lucky to work with such a magnificent cast. And this is a huge, muscular, thrilling drama which will shake The Whoniverse to its foundations. When the Doctor’s not in town, the whole of humanity is in trouble.“

Filming begins next month and will be directed by Dylan Holmes-Williams, director of two “Doctor Who” season one episodes: “73 Yards” and “Dot and Bubble.” The series will premiere exclusively on Disney+ in Canada.

#FIRSTLOOK: “DOCTOR WHO” COMING MAY 10, 2024 to DISNEY+ CANADA – NEW TRAILER

Calling across the Whoniverse! Today, Disney Branded Television and BBC jointly announced the premiere date for the next “Doctor Who” installment, the first-ever season to launch on Disney+ and release simultaneously worldwide. Beginning May 10, 2024 on Disney+ in Canada, audiences will return to “The Church on Ruby Road,” which premiered last December, and journey through two all-new episodes. Today we get a brand new Trailer!

Accompanying the news, Disney+ released new key art and a gallery image featuring the Fifteenth Doctor, played by Ncuti Gatwa, and his companion Ruby Sunday, portrayed by Millie Gibson. A brand-new trailer from Disney+ will debut next Friday, March 22.

This season of “Doctor Who” follows the Doctor and Ruby Sunday through infinite adventures across time and space in the TARDIS. From the Regency era in England to war-torn futures, the duo champion the forces of good while encountering incredible friends and dangerous foes.

The holidays came early as Disney+ released a teaser for the highly anticipated “Doctor Who” Christmas Special, “The Church on Ruby Road,” ahead of the December 25, 2023 premiere (available at 9:55 a.m. PT / 12:55 p.m. ET).

The Christmas Special welcomes Ncuti Gatwa as The Fifteenth Doctor and Millie Gibson as his new companion, Ruby Sunday.

Additional cast in the special includes: Davina McCall (herself), Michelle Greenidge (Carla Sunday), Angela Wynter (Cherry Sunday) and Anita Dobson (Mrs. Flood).
About the special: Long ago on Christmas Eve, a baby was abandoned in the snow. Today, Ruby Sunday meets the Doctor, stolen babies, goblins and perhaps the secret of her birth.

Yesterday, Gatwa and Gibson pushed the button to light the London Eye landmark in the colors of the iconic “Doctor Who” Time Vortex to celebrate the premiere (photo above).

Additionally, a blue carpet world premiere screening of the Christmas Special and Q&A with Gatwa, Gibson and showrunner Russell T Davies took place at the British Film Institute, Southbank yesterday.
