Today, 20th Century Studios unveiled an all-new trailer for Scott Cooperās highly anticipated film, āSpringsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere.ā Following its stellar reception at the Telluride Film Festival, the film currently holds a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
āSpringsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhereā chronicles the making of Bruce Springsteenās 1982 āNebraskaā album. Recorded on a 4-track recorder in Springsteenās New Jersey bedroom, the album marked a pivotal time in his life and is considered one of his most enduring worksāa raw, haunted acoustic record populated by lost souls searching for a reason to believe.
āāNebraskaā is where Bruce chose truth over expectationāa choice that still reverberates through everything heās written since. At that crossroads, he could have chased the bright lights and the roar of arenas, but instead he turned inward, armed only with silence, a four-track recorder, and the courage to confront himself. For him to trust me with telling that storyāthe most vulnerable chapter of his lifeāis the greatest honour Iāve ever had as a filmmaker,ā says Cooper.
āThis film takes a couple years out of my life and looks at them very closely, a time when I made āNebraskaā and went through some personal difficulties,ā says Springsteen. āIām so appreciative of Jeremy Allen White and the entire cast for their wonderful and moving performancesāand Scott Cooper, one of the most generous collaborators Iāve ever worked with.ā
Starring Jeremy Allen White as Bruce Springsteen, the film is directed by Scott Cooper from his adaptation of Warren Zanesā book of the same name. āSpringsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhereā also features Jeremy Strong as Springsteenās long-time confidant and manager, Jon Landau; Paul Walter Hauser as guitar tech Mike Batlan; Odessa Young as Faye; Stephen Graham as Springsteenās father, Doug; Gaby Hoffman as Springsteenās mother, Adele; and David Krumholtz as Columbia executive, Al Teller.
The film is produced by Cooper, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Eric Robinson and Scott Stuber. Tracey Landon, Jon F. Vein and Zanes executive produce. The film includes an original score by composer Jeremiah Fraites, cinematography by Masanobu Takayanagi, production design by Stefania Cella, costume design by Kasia Walicka-Maimone, and is edited by Pamela Martin. āSpringsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhereā will be in theatres October 24.
Production is underway on āDeliver Me from Nowhere,ā the eagerly anticipated movie adaptation of Warren Zanesā fascinating telling of the making of Bruce Springsteenās 1982 āNebraskaā album. Slated for theaters in 2025, the film is written and directed by Scott Cooper (āCrazy Heart,ā āHostiles,ā āAntlers,ā āBlack Massā) and stars Jeremy Allen White (āThe Bear,ā āThe Iron Claw,ā āShamelessā) as the visionary musician as he embarks on an emotional journey to record āNebraska.ā
āBeginning production on this film is an incredibly humbling and thrilling journey,ā said Cooper. āBruce Springsteenās āNebraskaā has profoundly shaped my artistic vision. The albumās raw, unvarnished portrayal of lifeās trials and resilience resonates deeply with me. Our film aims to capture that same spirit, bringing Warren Zanesā compelling narrative of Bruceās life to the screen with authenticity and hope, honouring Bruceās legacy in a transformative cinematic experience. It has been a great pleasure to collaborate with Bruce and Jon [Landau] as I tell their story, and their creative energy fuels every part of this journey. As well, Iām excited to reunite with my friend, David Greenbaum [president, Disney Live Action and 20th Century Studios], as he embarks on his new role at Disney, adding another layer of inspiration to this project.ā

The development of āNebraska,ā which followed Springsteenās 1981 āThe River Tour,ā marked a pivotal time in his life, one that he would only openly talk about decades after its release. Itās regarded as a landmark in his musical odyssey and a source of inspiration for a generation of artists and musicians. Recorded on a 4-track recorder in Springsteenās New Jersey bedroom and without The E Street Band, āNebraskaā is considered one of Springsteenās most enduring worksāa raw, haunted acoustic record populated by lost souls searching for a reason to believe.
Among the most recognized South Jersey natives, Springsteen maintains a huge footprint at the Jersey Shore, frequenting local shops, pizza parlors, pubs, restaurants and music venues. Filming for āDeliver Me from Nowhereā will take place primarily in locations in New Jersey and New York, with additional production in Los Angeles.
Cooper produces with the Gotham Groupās Ellen Goldsmith-Vein (āThe Maze Runnerā trilogy, āJuror #2ā) and Eric Robinson (āKodachrome,ā āLast Daysā), who developed the project with Cooper. Scott Stuber (āFrankenstein,ā āTed,ā āSafe Houseā) also produces. Tracey Landon (āMaestro,ā āAmsterdamā), who recently worked with Cooper on āThe Pale Blue Eye,ā and Warren Zanes are executive producing.
20th Century Studios and Disney will produce and distribute Deliver Me From Nowhere, the feature film that explores the making of Bruce Springsteenās classic 1982 album Nebraska. Based on the book Deliver Me from Nowhere: The Making of Bruce Springsteenās Nebraska (Crown; May 2023) by Warren Zanes, the film will benefit from the involvement of Bruce Springsteen and his manager Jon Landau.
Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart, Hostiles) will write and direct the film. EmmyĀ® winner Jeremy Allen White is in talks to star. The Gotham Groupās Ellen Goldsmith-Vein (The Maze Runner trilogy) and Eric Robinson, Cooper, Zanes and Scott Stuber are producers. Production on the film is expected to begin this fall.
āIt is a once-in-a-lifetime honour to be collaborating with Bruce Springsteen, an inspiring and incomparable artist who represents so much to so many,ā said David Greenbaum, president, Disney Live Action and 20th Century Studios. āThe deep authenticity of his story is in great hands with my friend Scott Cooper whom I am thrilled to be collaborating with once again.ā
āWarren Zanesā Deliver Me From Nowhere is one of the best books ever written about Bruce Springsteen and his music,ā said Springsteenās longtime manger Jon Landau. āBruce and I are thrilled that Scott Cooper has chosen to write and direct the film based on that book ā we think heās the perfect filmmaker for the job. Scott, with Producers Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Eric Robinson at The Gotham Group, and Scott Stuber are bringing together a superb team to ensure that this project has the vision and soul that have been the hallmark of Bruceās 55-year career. Weāre thrilled to have the wholehearted commitment and support of the entire team at 20th and Disney.ā
āWhen we first read Warren Zanesā brilliant book, we knew there was a beautiful film to be made that captured the portrait of an iconic artist as a human being at a crucial moment in his artistic life,ā said Goldsmith-Vein and Robinson in a joint statement. āWe also knew there was only one filmmaker who could translate this story to cinema with verve and poetry, and that was Scott Cooper. Bruce Springsteen is the cultural chronicler for several generations and through his art heās contributed so much to our understanding of the human journey. Working with Bruce and Jon Landau and master storyteller Scott Cooper in partnership with Scott Stuber and our friends at 20th and Disney to bring this tale to global audiences is a privilege beyond measure.ā
āI once read that Nebraska is an album that moves you to the marrow of your bones. I couldnāt agree more,ā says Cooper. āBruce Springsteen, and Nebraska, in particular, have had a profound impact on me and my work. Through themes of despair, disillusionment, and the struggles of everyday Americans, Bruce has formed an unparalleled legacy, painting an unflinching portrait of the human condition. Yet, amidst the darkness, a sense of resilience and a sense of hope shines through, reflecting an indomitable spirit. Thatās the Bruce Iāve come to know and love and will honor with this film. Warren Zanesā wonderful telling of this chapter in Bruceās life is ripe for cinematic adaptation. This film has the potential to be a transformative cinematic experience, offering audiences a window into the soul of Bruce Springsteen and the universal truths that bind us all together.ā
In a guest column for The New York Times earlier this year, author Warren Zanes wrote āAs a teenager, I felt as if āNebraskaā was telling me a few things, but one of them in particular stuck with me: āYou can do this, it saidāā¦Nebraska was dirty, kind of mumbled in sections, its hushed tones punctuated by a few screams; it told scary stories. But it felt so close to the world I lived in. It was a recording I listened to, and I never felt left out. There are times when we need that kind of art. Iād say now is one of them.ā
About Nebraska: The natural follow-up to Springsteenās hugely successful The River was widely expected to be a rock album with The E Street Band. Instead, in 1982, Springsteen released Nebraska, a stark solo album recorded on a 4-track recorder. The book and the film tell the fascinating story of Springsteenās artistic journey in the creation of the album, which is regarded as a landmark in his musical odyssey and a source of inspiration for a generation of artists and musicians.
