Announced on Citytv moments ago, JACOB LEWIS from BUTLERVILLE, NL is this season’s Canada’s Got Talent champion and the winner of $1M from Rogers.

JACOB LEWIS (Butlerville, NL) won Canada’s hearts and votes after impressing both the audience, the #CGT judges – Howie Mandel, Shania Twain, Katherine Ryan, Kardinal Offishall – and host Lindsay Ell with his performance of “The Best” by Tina Turner during tonight’s highly-anticipated live two-hour finale on Citytv and Citytv+.
“With $1M, plus $50 from me, Rogers has opened the door for an extraordinary talent to chase their dreams without limits. Moments like this are what make Canada’s Got Talent so special,” said Howie Mandel, Judge, Canada’s Got Talent.
“Tonight we got to experience someone’s dreams being realized. The power of your country behind you means something (I speak from experience), and I can’t wait to see what happens next for Jacob Lewis,” said Shania Twain, Judge, Canada’s Got Talent.
Jacob Lewis is an offshore oil and gas construction worker from Butlerville, Newfoundland, who had dreamed of becoming a full-time singer. Five years ago, those dreams were put on hold when his twin boys were born prematurely with complications. Shania Twain selected Lewis as her Golden Buzzer in the auditions following his performance of “Bed of Roses” by Bon Jovi.

- The STUDIO 26 DANCERS (Halifax, NS) lit up the stage with energetic, impressive dance moves that had the crowd roaring!
- 15-year-old singer KYRA DANIEL (Kingston, ON) received a standing ovation for her powerful and deeply personal cover of “Black Like Me” by Mickey Guyton. Kardinal Offishall was personally moved by the performance, saying, “it felt like a weight had been lifted off of my shoulders.” (seen above)
- Katherine Ryan hit her first-ever Golden Buzzer forcomedian
- DARREN LEO (Toronto, ON). His stand-up performance poking fun at Asian stereotypes had the crowd and judges bursting with laughter.

Howie Mandel made the most out of April Fool’s Day, pulling a prank as a judge gone wild on tonight’s episode of CANADA’S GOT TALENT!
Key moments from tonight’s episode of Canada’s Got Talent, include:
● MAHIRO (Fukuoka, Japan) had Shania and Howie dancing in their seats with an intriguing performance of his original track, “Sausage Song”.
● 75-year-old singer, VALERIE BOYLE (Toronto, ON), won the judges’ hearts and a standing ovation with her humour, charm, and moving performance of “Send In The Clowns” by Stephen Sondheim. Valerie vowed to donate any prize winnings to Community Living, a local non-profit that has supported her son and others who have intellectual disabilities.
● Dance troupe 902 CREW (Charlottetown, PEI) lit up the stage with an electrifying performance, wowing both the judges and the audience with their unstoppable energy.
● 69-year-old comedian HOWIE MANDEL (Toronto, ON), shocked the CGT audience and his fellow judges with a captivating performance of a judge gone wild, in a wildly successful April Fool’s Day prank. Howie critiqued the comedy set of a local actor, 10-year-old Remy Smith, who played an aspiring stand-up comedian and Howie superfan.
● Canada’s Got Talent alumni CARSON & TAYLOR (Sarnia, ON) pulled off a mind-blowing trick featuring a surprise guest, astronaut and Sarnia-native Chris Hadfield, that left the judges and audience in absolute shock.
● Shania Twain hit her Golden Buzzer for singer JACOB LEWIS (Butlerville, NL), who performed a mesmerizing cover of “Bed of Roses” by Bon Jovi that also earned him a standing ovation.

–BEVERLY SARAZA (Toronto, ON) received a standing ovation after performing an explosive cover of “Bang Bang” by Jessie J. featuring Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj.
-Strongman TULGA (Mongolia) shocked the crowd by holding a 330-pound pole with his teeth while hanging from the ceiling, host Lindsay Ell said it’s “the most dangerous thing I’ve seen on the CGT stage.”
–THE MARTIN BOYS (Woodstock, NB) performed an original country song called ”Miracle Cure,” judge Shania Twain said “that song could be on the radio tomorrow.”
-Comedian SAI KIT LO (Markham, ON) had the judges in stitches, Howie Mandel said “I think you’re going to be in the final!”
