It’s Branagh x Christie again! A HAUNTING IN VENICE is set to begin production, the latest Agatha Christie adaptation from Sir Kenneth Branagh.

Production on 20th Century Studios’ “A Haunting in Venice,” an unsettling supernatural-thriller inspired by Agatha Christie’s novel Hallowe’en Party, is set to begin next month. The film, which is directed by Oscar® winner Kenneth Branagh (“Belfast”) and features a screenplay by Oscar nominee Michael Green (“Logan”), will shoot at Pinewood Studios outside London and on location in Venice. A brilliant acting ensemble portraying a cast of unforgettable characters will be featured, including Kenneth Branagh, Kyle Allen (“Rosaline”), Camille Cottin (“Call My Agent”), Jamie Dornan (“Belfast”), Tina Fey (“30 Rock”), Jude Hill (“Belfast”), Ali Khan (“6 Underground”), Emma Laird (“Mayor of Kingstown”), Kelly Reilly (“Yellowstone”), Riccardo Scamarcio (“Caravaggio’s Shadow”), and Michelle Yeoh (“Everything Everywhere All at Once”). “A Haunting in Venice” will open in theatres nationwide in 2023.

Set in eerie, post-World War II Venice on All Hallows’ Eve, “A Haunting in Venice” is a terrifying mystery featuring the return of the celebrated sleuth, Hercule Poirot. “A Haunting in Venice,” the studios’ third film based on a novel by Christie, reunites the team of filmmakers behind 2017’s “Murder on the Orient Express” and 2022’s “Death on the Nile” and includes screenwriter Michael Green, producer Judy Hofflund, and executive producers Louise Killin and James Prichard, along with filmmakers Ridley Scott, Simon Kinberg, and Mark Gordon.

We admit we are a little late on the Joji bandwagon, discovering his music during the Pandemic. Prior to that we’d only recalled him from his extreme challenge YouTube videos and an appearance on Hot Ones. But he’s proven he’s so much more than just that, wowing us with 2020 track “Run“. His Music possess a darkness and depth to it that is hypnotic and vocally, he’s as stand-out Vocalist. I absolutely adore his popular single “Glimpse of Us“, which is still on-repeat after falling in love with it this Summer. The dichotomy of his online brand and the maturity of his Music is a real interesting thing, I’m still trying to understand.

The Japanese-American phenomenon has managed to maintain a low profile despite being popular enough to fill-up HISTORY in Toronto two nights as part of his Smithereens Tour, in support of this third Album of the same name, coming next month.

We are so happy to get to see him over Thanksgiving weekend even though he was laying low covering his face with a neck gator, sunglasses and a ballcap. This actually didn’t come as a surprise as he seems a bit mysterious. Hopefully, one day he’ll be back in town to promote a project and we’ll get a proper snap.

Inspired by elements of the Easy-Bake Ovens we loved so much as a kid, EASY-BAKE-BATTLE: THE HOME COOKING COMPETITION comes soon to us on Netflix. Produced and hosted by Queer Eye‘s Antoni Porowksi, each of these eight x 30 minute episodes sees three Amateur Chefs battle to make quick-preparation meals, under time constraints and sometimes even without an oven! Though the title of this Competition Series is a little misleading – I genuinely thought they would be baking with Easy-Bake Ovens! – this doesn’t mean these challenges are fun and delicious!

Porowski is a knowledgeable and engaging Host and brings aboard some fascinating Guest Judges. Spoiler Alert: Kristen Kish of the latest season of Iron Chef, even makes an appearance! But the true stars of the Show are the Contestants who consistently have to be reminded to keep it simple and despite some of them possessing some impressive techniques, you see them using almost 25 ingredients in a dish, which defeats the concept of “easy”. One episode has the contestants cooking out of a coffee maker and with an iron. I don’t envy the Judges as we don’t quite know if some of these dishes are cooked properly even, but the results time and again are pretty amazing. Even with flops, Contestants are forced to improvise for a shot at a $25k prize each episode!

Truly a fun watch and should garner enough interest for a second season, we hope! EASY-BAKE BATTLE: THE HOME COOKING COMPETITION arrives October 12, 2022 on Netflix.

SMILE continues to bring joy to Horror fans at the Box Office, taking the #1 spot yet again with $17.6 million for Paramount Pictures from 3,659 theatres for a total $48 million in its second weekend out. Amazingly, this isn’t far off its first week numbers which means word of mouth is spreading well.

In second is LYLE, LYLE CROCODILE marking Canadian Singer-Songwriter Shawn Mendes‘ acting debut with $11.5 million from 4,350 theatres for Sony Pictures. The Film gets a passing 68% on the Tomatometer.

Third goes to David O. Russell’s AMSTERDAM, debuting with $6.5 million from 3,005 theatres for 20th Century Studios with 33% on the Tomatometer.

THE WOMAN KING is in fourth with $5.3 million for a total $54.1 million for Sony Pictures in its fourth weekend out.

Rounding-out the Top Five is DON’T WORRY DARLING with $3.4 million for Warner Bros. with $38.4 million.
