“Spring Brea-eak. Spring Break forever, B*tches!”.
Part-Arthouse Flick, part-Teen Fantasy, Director/Writer Harmony Korine’s Spring Breakers has been winning accolades since it debuted last September at the Toronto International Film Festival. With an All-Star Cast which includes Selena Gomez, Ashley Benson, Vanessa Hudgens, Rachel Korine and of course, a blinged-out James Franco, I personally have witnessed its greatness. Read my Review here.

One thing I’ve learned in life is that you can never underestimate Selena Gomez. She is an absolute Pop Star and legitimately has transitioned from Disney Star to an actual Pop Princess. Amidst all the bustle in Toronto last week with the Upfronts I didn’t get a chance to listen to her brand new Track Slow Down, the second Single from upcoming Disc Stars Dance.
Written by Lindy Robbins, Julia Michaels, Niles Hollowell-Dhar, David Kuncio, Freddy Wexler and produced by The Cataracs (Dev, Icona Pop), the Track is phenomenal. If you ask me, I like it even more than current Single Come & Get It which already is perhaps her biggest hit yet reaching the Top Ten in both Canada and the U.S.. I really cannot wait to hear more!
Listen below:
Complete Tracklisting on Stars Dance:
1. Birthday
2. Slow Down
3. Stars Dance
4. Like A Champion
5. Come & Get It
6. Forget Forever
7. Save The Day
8. B.E.AT.
9. Write Your Name
10. Undercover
11. Love Will Remember
Universal Music releases Stars Dance on Tuesday, July 23, 2013, the same day as labelmate Mariah Carey. I know HMV at 10:00 AM sharp is where I’ll definitely be that day!

Toronto finally gets a serious dose of Starpower this week and Selena Gomez certainly caps everything off in a huge way for us! The Actress, Pop Star and overall Megastar arrived from Paris yesterday, causing a commotion at Toronto Pearson International Airport midday. Fan reports indicate pushing and shoving, but alas all was safe and Gomez was spotted later in the day enjoying some Lunch at Hooters. While we were at the Scotiabank Theatre Red Carpet Advance Screening of Now You See Me with Jesse Eisenberg, Gomez managed to sneak into the theatre almost unnoticed to enjoy a Movie on her Day Off!
Gomez was at it early today, doing a round of Radio Interviews including 104.5 CHUM FM, KISS 92.5 and 99.9 Virgin Radio and everywhere she went, she drew a huge crowd of her primarily female Fans. Her Handler was awesome to keep order, having everyone line-up tidily in front of KISS 92.5 Studios after her appearance on the Roz & Mocha Show. No Fan left disappointed as quickly she made her way through the line, posing for Selfies with everyone. Even Billy and I got a Snap with the Pop Princess and we’ve been longtime Supporters! “Oh my God, he’s sooo cute!”, she says about Billy!
See our Snap below:
Gomez‘s first Solo Disc Stars Dance will get a Summer release via Universal Music Canada and we’re stoked from what we’ve heard. First Single Come & Get It is a bit of a Top 40 Monster, already hitting reaching the Top Ten of both the Canadian and U.S. Billboard Hot 100 Charts!
Slow Down has been confirmed as the next Single from Stars Dance (Video shot in Paris). The Disc is scheduled for Tuesday, July 23, 2013 via Universal Music Canada. Cannot wait to hear it! Complete Tracklisting here.

The 2013 Billboard Music Awards were held in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand tonight and winning top honours tonight was Taylor Swift with a total eight awards including Top Artist and Billboard Hot 200 Album with her Disc, Red. Poking fun at herself, Swift accepted her Award, stating, “you’re the longest and best relationship I’ve ever had!”.
Not to be outshone, Rihanna and Gotye both picked-up four awards each – the former doing extremely well in the R&B Categories winning Top Album, Song and Artist, while also nabbing Top Radio Songs Artist. Gotye was victorious in the categories: Hot 100 Song, Rock Song, Radio Song and Streaming Song (Audio) based on the strength of his Smash with Kimbra, Somebody That I Used To Know.
Two Pop Legends were honoured also in Prince and Madonna. The former not only performing tonight a Medley which included Let’s Go Crazy, received the Icon Award for his lasting career which has seen ten Diamond Albums and 30 Top 40 Hits. The latter, whom we spotted in New York City last week at the Met Gala, won Top Touring Artist for her MDNA Tour.
Canada’s Carly Rae Jepsen even was recognized with the Award for Top Digital Song with Call Me Maybe.
Although the evening was highlighted by some dazzling performances from the likes of Bruno Mars, Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Jennifer Lopez, Christina Aguilera, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Pitbull, it was Miguel who stirred-up the most controversy apparently kicking two female Fans when crowdsurfing into the audience during his performance of Adorn.

Multimedia Princess Selena Gomez never disappoints and with 2013 already shaping-up to be a big year already with her getting love from the Arthouse Crowd with her latest Film Spring Breakers, she now is ready to slay us with some amazing Pop Music.
A newly-solo Gomez (both musically and relationship-wise) decided to push early a couple days the release of her latest Single, Come & Get It after much teasing about it the past few weeks and what we get here is Bhangra-infused Electronic-Pop. That Hook is amazing and guaranteed within the first listen you’ll be “na na na”-ing along with the StarGate-produced Track. So good!

You know we’re getting old when even The Jonas Brothers are making a comeback! The Boys have announced today that their eagerly-awaited new Single Pom Poms will be released on Tuesday, April 2, 2013. The Pop-Rock Banger will premiere on Radio at 11:00 AM EST, to be followed by its Video Premiere at 7:00 PM EST over at e! Online. The Track will appear on their as-yet-untitled fifth Studio Disc out later this year via Universal Music Canada.
In the meantime, whet your appetites with this Teaser for Pom Poms!
In other news, another Disney Alumni Selena Gomez and Jonas Labelmate, who seems to be everywhere these days promoting the amazing Spring Breakers, has announced today that she soon will be releasing the first Single from her first Solo Disc sans The Scene, titled Come and Get It. The Track, written by Stargate and Ester Dean, will surface first on iTunes exclusively on Monday, April 8, 2013, to be followed by other outlets one day after. The Album is due some time this Summer, so perhaps we might see her at the 2013 MuchMusic Video Awards for a bit of Promo?
Exclusive content, including Previews of the Single will be available via Gomez‘s Official Website on Monday, April 1, 2013 and no, that’s no April Fool’s Joke! She will be debuting the Track with a live performance of it on Sunday, April 14, 2013 at the 2013 MTV Movie Awards! I adored Gomez‘s last Disc, Till the Sun Goes Down. Superb.
Spring Brea-ea-eak. Spring Break forever, B*tches! “Our love was made to rule the World/You came and broke the perfect Girl.”. BIEBER!
It is no mystery that I love Selena Gomez like a Love Song. I am totally loving this new Track which has just surfaced, called Rule the World. The beauty of a Break-up is that good Music often is born from it. This definitely shows maturity and growth from her last Disc as Selena Gomez and The Scene, When the Sun Goes Down. Musically, it’s giving me major flashbacks to Kelly Rowland & David Guetta‘s When Love Takes Over. Massive.
This Track, we’re hearing, is just a Teaser and not the official first Single from what will be her first Solo Disc as only Selena Gomez. It is said that Track will surface in April, titled Come and Get It.

Since hearing about it at TIFF, I’ve been itching what seems like forever now to see Spring Breakers, Writer/Director Harmony Korine‘s Dramedy about four Spring Break-obsessed College Girls who decide to rob a store to fund their vacation. After getting caught and thrown in jail, they are bailed-out by a Gangster named Alien who enlists their help for a special task, introducing them to his dangerous world of Crime.
Korine tells Interview Magazine last Summer that he was inspired to create Spring Breakers after spending many of his vacations simply Skateboarding, so this is Project gave him an opportunity to make-up for what he missed growing-up.
Despite few having reviewed it, the Film has garnered some raves from Critics so far at Rotten Tomatoes, earning a not-at-all-disgraceful 62% on the Tomatometer.
I am intruged by its Cast which includes Rachel Korine (Wife of Harmony), Selena Gomez, Ashley Benson, Vanessa Hudgens, Heather Morris and James Franco in yet another odd choice of role for the Oscar-nominated Actor.
VVS Films releases Spring Breakers on Friday, March 29, 2013.

TIFF 2012 was another great Festival. The fact that Toronto plays Host to such a prestigious and glamorous event is a true testament to the level of respect the Film Industry has for our City. I am so proud to be a Torontonian and proud of my fellow Torontonians who made it all happen, from the Hot Dog Vendors who fed those of us with no time for a sit-down meal, to the Celebrity Drivers and Security Guards for keeping everyone out of harm’s way.
This year I met many Stars and my only regret is not being able to be at two places at once with the opening weekend crammed with Stars. Although this is nothing new for the Festival, let’s just say I never want to be faced with having to decide between Johnny Depp versus Amy Adams, Jennifer Lawrence versus Emma Watson, Tom Hanks versus Jackie Chan versus Will Smith ever again! Whomever schedules the times and locations of these Premieres certainly wasn’t a Star Spotter, that much I can say. Nightmare.
Ask Hanks, who called-out the Festival Organizers at the Press Conference for Cloud Atlas, asking: “Why do you run your celebrities through a pin like we’re bulls on the way to slaughter? It’s the narrowest kind of like entrance to a theater I’ve ever had.”. So believe me, it’s not just the Fans who are complaining – the Celebrities also have thoughts on the matter.
Thank you for being there along the way with me, tuning-in on CP24 and CTV News and reading my Posts as I dozed off on my keyboard fighting to finish that one more Blog Post at 5:00 AM. I can now look forward to catching-up on sleep once again, spotting Stars in the City at a far more reasonable pace and being Billy‘s Dad again. Oh, how I’ve missed that little Guy. And oh, how I know come January (when the Stars are sparse in the City) that I’ll be wishing it was September again!
Until next year…
