Few can deny that SUICIDE SQUAD is the highlight of Summer 2016 at the Movies, thus it is only fitting that the Warner Bros. Blockbuster returns to the place where it all began last spring for what could be the highest-grossing Film ever to be made in our City. Primed for a release, the DC Comics adaptation brought in Director David Ayer, along with stars Margot Robbie and Will Smith for an ultra-exclusive Red Carpet bash at the Distillery district’s Fermenting Cellar.
The Trio walked the Red Carpet in celebration of the Film taglined with the catch-phrase “Worst. Heroes. Ever.“, bringing together Super Villains in an operation to protect the safety of the President of the United States and its people. Just last weekend the Cast were at San Diego Comic-Con promoting the release and they were out in Miami earlier this week interacting with Fans!
Robbie looked a vision, Bohameian-chic, while Ayer and Smith kept it cool and casual, keeping in mind this was a party and they are after all… one of us, right? Right?
Mayor John Tory and the Trio did a ribbon-cutting ceremony together with eTalk’s Ben Mulroney, with Tory welcoming them back any time and gifting them with plaques from our City.
SUICIDE SQUAD stars Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Jay Hernandez, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Ike Barinholtz, Scott Eastwood, Cara Delevingne and Adam Beach.
For two days only, Wednesday, July 27, 2016 and Thursday, July 28, 2016 1-10 PM EST, the venue will host an awesome Belle Reve Penitentiary Fan Experience. The installation gives Fans a chance to experience:
-Sets and props from the Film including Deadshot Jail Cell, Harley Quinn Baseball Bat, Joker’s Cane and the iconic Belle Reve Mural Wall
-The world’s first Harley Quinn Smash Room, presented by BattleSports Inc. Fans can slip on a safety suit, grab Harley‘s bat and let it all out on glass bottles and vases
Tickets are available for purchase to see the Film in IMAX if you’re worried about getting shut-out at the Box Office opening weekend. Also, many exciting prizes are up for grabs. You in the very least walk away with a collectible poster. Come by, take a Selfie and use the Hashtag: #BelleReveTO.
Admission to the Fan Experience is free.

She practically is on every billboard and bus shelter right now, but surprisingly she just now is leaving an imprint on the mainstream conscience with her distinctive visage, including her trademark thick eyebrows. By this time next year, every one will know Cara Delevingne. She’s got eagerly-awaited PAPER TOWNS out later this month in which she stars alongside Nat Wolff.
The jet-set Supermodel who gradually is making her foray into Film, has been in and out of Toronto the past couple months filming DC Comics‘ surefire Smash SUICIDE SQUAD under the eye of David Ayer. Surprisingly though, she has remained under-the-radar, spotted out rarely other than some Photos of her as Enchantress on the set of the Film.
We’ve met the Supermodel multiple times including visits prior to New York for the Met Ball and she’s super-kind. Perhaps it’s the fatigue catching up with her, but the Star after partying hard at the Glastonbury Festival this weekend and appearing at Pal Taylor Swift’s 1989 Tour, looking a vision of exhaustion flying back to continue work on Suicide Squad.
Noticing Paparazzi upon arrival, she put-on her sunglasses, covered her face, apologizing sincerely for not stopping for Photos with Fans and then proceeded to flip Photographers the middle finger. This is unlike the Delevingne we know, but we get it. Perpetual daily hounding can turn someone this way. We love Cara and hope she is taking care of herself. Regardless, we’re still happy to have shared a moment with this hard-working young lady and know she does truly love her Fans regardless how she feels about having her Photo taken.

Holy frack! T-Swift delivers her A-Game in the eagerly-awaited Music Video for Bad Blood! She brings out her BFFs in a star-studded Girlfight Action Fest which premiered tonight during the 2015 Billboard Music Awards! Thought originally to be inspired by some tension between Swift and Katy Perry, it’s clear who has the former’s back on the matter.
Selena Gomez! Zendaya! Lena Dunham! Cara Delevingne! Hayley Williams! Hailee Steinfeld! Gigi Hadid! The hotness won’t quit. Director Joseph Kahn known best for Britney Spears’ Toxic Music Video achieves a new career best.
Watch and witness it yourself:
Known best for his work in Eastbound and Down, MADtv and more recently Neighbors and The Mindy Project, Funnyman Ike Barinholtz now sets his sights on Film with recent news of his casting in David Ayer‘s Suicide Squad. The Film based on DC Comics’ popular Comic Book Series, sees a group of imprisoned Superheroes tasked with dangerous Black Ops missions in exchange for clemency.
Word is that Ayer (End of Watch, Training Day) will have his Cast go to some deep, dark places as the Film begins filming tomorrow in Toronto.
Barinholtz was spotted out and about earlier today doing a quick grocery run, stopping for a moment to take Photos with Fans, noticeably fitter and almost unrecognizable in his Aviator sunglasses. The Cast this weekend were spotted partying at Sound Academy on Will Smith‘s tab, one last hurrah before they head to work this week.
See Will Smith rap at the Party, video courtesy of Co-Star Jim Parrack. Could this be signs of new material from him on the Soundtrack?
Stars Scott Eastwood and Cara Delevingne appeared to be absent, the former partying at Coachella right now, after an aggressive Promo Tour for The Longest Ride and the latter attending MTV Movie Awards festivities in Los Angeles. Jared Leto was spotted sporting his green Joker hair proudly on the streets earlier this afternoon as well!

The 43rd annual Costume Institute Gala was held last night in New York City. The annual Fixture at the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art pairs Fashion and Starpower together in a dazzling Red Carpet Affair with a hand-picked A-List of Invitees approved none other than by Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour – the most respected and at once feared Woman in the Fashion industry. Earlier in the day, American First Lady Michelle Obama honoured her in a Ceremony at the Venue.
Bringing the focus on influencial Fashion Designer Charles James, Men for the first time ever played a more pronounced role at the Gala. Hugh Jackman, Neil Patrick Harris, Jim Parsons, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Bradley Cooper – the latter serving as Chair this year, were among the many Hunks gracing the Red Carpet which shut down a portion of Fifth Avenue. A mandate was set by Wintour encouraging Coat Tails and white Bow Ties, most adhering as would best be advisable at the profile-boosting Extravaganza of the highest form.
As always, the Ladies are front and center. Sporting and among the Red Carpet Favourites last included Supermodel Cara Delevingne in a Pantsuit by Stella McCartney, Karolina Kurkova in Marchesa, Lupita Nyong’o in a sparkly green piece by Prada and Blake Lively in Gucci.
The Party didn’t end right there though as the stars came out in full force at the Afterparties around town. It is said Beyoncé and Jay-Z got swarmed by Fans, travelling separately from one Party possibly for their own safety. Sean Penn and Charlize Theron were seen happily out and about as were another new Couple in Michael Sheen and Sarah Silverman. We wonder if there were any moments of awkwardness as Toronto’s own Rachel McAdams also attended; she previously was involved with Sheen. All eyes however were on Lively and Ryan Reynolds as loud cheers were hears upon their cozy displays of affection.
Several were disappointed about Jennifer Lawrence‘s deeply-felt absence despite being scheduled to be dressed in Dior and without Madonna this year, there seemed to be that little bit less enthusiasm in the air.
Some got a bit tipsy as we witnessed Academy Award Nominee Ejiofor getting a bit of help back to his Hotel, as was 20-year-old French Acting Sensation Adèle Exarchopoulos. And was that Tomato Sauce we saw on Lily Allen‘s cheek as she made her way back to her Hotel with a big box of Pizza in-tow?
Personally, we are still giddy about meeting Australian Beauties Naomi Watts and breakout Star Margot Robbie! And did we mention that we got an ultra-rare opportunity to meet the biggest Celebrity in New York right now, Pasty Chef Dominique Ansel? The soon-to-be Author and Beard Honour-receiving Cronut Inventor has the Culinary World and New York City at the palm of his hand. It was also sublime getting to meet Celebrity Photographer of the highest calibre, Mario Testino!
Just some of the Snaps below of whom I got to meet:
Thanks again, New York City for the fun times!

12 Years a Slave was awarded Best Picture at the 62nd annual BAFTA Awards at London’s Royal Opera House earlier today and is believed by many to be the definitive choice to win in the same Category at next month’s Academy Awards in Los Angeles. Despite receiving a whopping ten nominations, the Drama directed by Steve McQueen, took home two Awards, with British Actor Chiwetel Ejofor taking Leading Actor in an Awards Season stateside which has been dominated by Matthew McConaughey.
Also awarded today were Cate Blanchett for Leading Actress in Blue Jasmine – a feat she likely will repeat at the Oscars, an absent Jennifer Lawrence for Supporting Actress in American Hustle and Barkhad Abdi for Supporting Actor in Captain Phillips. Will Poulter, who starred in last year’s Box Office Smash We’re The Millers, was awarded the EE Rising Star Award.
While the Hardware may have been handed out today, the Parties were alive and kicking last night and the one to be at certainly was Harvey Weinstein‘s BAFTA Nominees Dinner, sponsored by Burberry and Grey Goose Vodka. Held at Little House in Mayfair, London, the dazzling Affair boasted a Guest List including the likes of Uma Thurman, Keira Knightley, Naomi Harris, Cara Delevingne, Poppy Delevingne, Suki Waterhouse, Paloma Faith, Steve Coogan, Steve McQueen, Douglas Booth, Jamie Campbell Bower, Samantha Barks, Richard E Grant, Philomena Lee, Nick Grimshaw, Sam Claflin, Laura Haddock and Daniel Brühl.
The Star of the Evening being Grey Goose‘s LE FIZZ Cocktail (Recipe here!), the Libation named the Celebratory Drink of Choice. For Appetizers, Guests enjoyed a variety of Canapes, Scallop and Grapefruit Ceviche, Cavolo Nero Crisps and Prawn and Guacamole Skewers. The luxurious three-course Dinner included: Quinoa, Beetroot, Cucumber and Radish followed by Roast Fillet of Beef, with a light Lemon Meringue for Dessert. WWWT (wish we were there)!!!

It was a memorable year indeed! Join me as I recall some of 2013’s brightest moments in Celebrity, Film and Music with a Toronto twist! As a true Connoisseur of Pop Culture, I certainly was spoiled with several delights this year on all three fronts. Toronto witnessed what could well be the strongest years this City ever has seen in terms of Star Power. Also, as an experienced Digital Photographer of sorts, I am sharing some of my favourite Snaps taken around the City this year too. If you’re a #NOFILTER kinda Guy or Gal, I apologize! A few of them are Horse-related, spending many of my weekends at scenic Woodbine Racetrack, my fave Place since Childhood to escape and recharge from the City. Come Wongsters, let us walk down this luminous Memory Lane together!
TOP TEN SONGS OF 2013
2013 was solid for Pop Music and I was thrilled to hear a return to great, strong melodies. What a year it was for Miley Cyrus who not only wowed us with We Can’t Stop, but slayed us hard with Wrecking Ball! Coming in like a Wrecking Ball she managed to turn all eyes her way in a year which saw Albums released from some Marquee names like Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Rihanna and more. Lana Del Rey put us in a state of euphoria this Spring with her chilling Ballad for The Great Gatsby, Young & Beautiful. Flawless and timeless. Mariah Carey and Miguel provided much of the Soundtrack for my early Summer with their gorgeous Collabo #Beautiful, while Robin Thicke undisputedly had the Song of Summer 2013 with Blurred Lines. His Album of the same name easily is my favourite Disc of 2013.
1. Miley Cyrus – Wrecking Ball
2. Lana Del Rey – Young & Beautitul
3. Mariah Carey ft. Miguel – #Beautiful
4. Justin Timberlake – Mirrors
5. Miley Cyrus – We Can’t Stop
6. Robin Thicke ft. Pharrell & T.I. – Blurred Lines
7. Capital Cities – Safe and Sound
8. Katy Perry – Roar
9. Icona Pop – I Love It
10. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis – Same Love
Miley Cyrus – Wrecking Ball
TOP TEN FILMS OF 2013
I don’t recall a year in recent memory where the Films were quite as strong as this year. It is as if Filmmakers have studied critiques, knew precisely what to avoid and owned it. Time after time I’d make it out to the morning Media Screenings and just when I thought I’d seen my favourite Film of 2013, another would come along and usurp the throne. In all, AIDS Drama Dallas Buyers Club would leave the strongest imprint with Jared Leto touching the core of my soul with his phenomenal performance. 12 Years a Slave left me shaken and speechless and made it really tough to decide a Fave. Saving Mr. Banks truly affected and inspired me, moving me to tears and I could never forget Cate Blanchett‘s empathic portrayal of a Woman battling her own demons in Woody Allen‘s Blue Jasmine. And yes, I really loved Spring Breakers. James Franco is just on another level.
1. Dallas Buyers Club
2. 12 Years a Slave
3. American Hustle
4. Blue Jasmine
5. Saving Mr. Banks
6. Gravity
7. 42
8. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
9. Enough Said
10. Spring Breakers

Such a complete delight partaking in the festivities of the 2013 Costume Institute Gala (Met Gala) this year in New York City. The Gala celebrates the Metropolitan Museum‘s annual opening of the Fashion Exhibit at the Costume Institute, bringing together the Worlds of Film, Music and Fashion. Although it’s 6:00 AM and I have yet to sleep a wink, I’ve had a blast chasing the Stars and enjoying the Fashions, celebrating the theme of Punk! Although some were faithful to it, there were also several diversions, resulting in a large variety to the eye.
Yes, it was surreal being an arm’s length from Madonna who looked fun and edgy in her Cleopatra Hair and seeing Natalie Portman clash at once with her on the Red Carpet with her, only for her to acquiesce and let the reigning Queen of Pop shine in her metallic Givenchy Haute Couture Dress. I am still in awe of Beyoncé‘s marvelous Givenchy Gown, which drew the most applause from Onlookers who lined the streets for a glimpse outside the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA). Or how about getting an air kiss from this year’s Host Rooney Mara after telling her how much I admire her work? And I cannot deny how surreal it was seeing Sofia Coppola walk arm-in-arm with Marc Jacobs – two of my favourite People! Or how about witnessing a warm embrace between Girls Star/Writer/Producer Lena Dunham and equally brilliant Mindy Kaling? And did I mention I accidentally stepped-on Jessica Alba‘s dress?
The Parties continued well into the morning, with the main event taking place at The Standard Hotel, where the likes of Jennifer Lawrence, Rita Ora, Cara Delevingne, Madonna, Katy Perry, Carey Mulligan and a newly-blonde Anne Hathaway, stirred-up some madness. Lawrence in particular raised a frenzy among Fans and Paparazzi alike, zipping along with tactical speed into her SUV.
See a Montage below of Clips I took from the Evening. You won’t believe how crazy things got for Jennifer Lawrence!

Beyond excited! I’m packing-up and heading out to New York City for a few days to capture the Festivities at the Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which always has been a dream of mine to experience. Like the rest of us I won’t be inside, but still I’ll be admiring the Fashion from the outside and sure to snap lots of Photos and hopefully meet some of my Idols! The theme this year is Punk and hosting is Rooney Mara, while Beyoncé will act as Honourary Chair.
Things will be a bit quiet for the next couple days, but be sure to check back upon my return for what surely will be lots of excitement! Expected this year are the likes of Amanda Seyfried, Lena Dunham, Allison Williams, Gwyneth Paltrow, Dakota Fanning, Kristen Stewart, Rihanna, Florence Welch, Gwen Stefani, Jennifer Lawrence, Cara Delevingne, Kanye West and several, several more.
If you’d like to join-in on the fun at watch the Met Gala Red Carpet, be sure to stream it live 7:00 PM EST on Monday, May 6, 2013. Click here to Vogue‘s Live Streaming.
See you when I’m back! I’ll be uploading Photos on my Instagram and Twitter in the interim, so check there for the latest!
