It was an extremely close match at the Box Office this  Memorial Day weekend but TOMORROWLAND prevails over last week’s Champ, Pitch Perfect 2 narrowly with a $35 million debut! The Disney Fantasy starring Britt Robertson and George Clooney opens in 3,970 theatres with mixed reviews from Critics with 50% on the Tomatometer and a B CinemaScore.  The Film was made for $190 million.
PITCH PERFECT 2 continues to outperform itself in its second week opening with $34 million from 3,560 theatres for Universal Pictures, just shy of a two-week reign. Â Thus far domestically, it already has surpassed $100 million, which is massive considering its modest budget.
MAD MAX: FURY ROAD lands in third in its second week out also with $25 million from 3,722 theatres for Warner Bros. It edges closer to the $100 million mark in North America.
POLTERGEIST opens in fourth in its debut for 20th Century Fox, earning $24 million from 3,240 theatres.  Critics gave the Toronto-filmed Remake starring Sam Rockwell a 30% on the Tomatometer and a C+ CinemaScore.
AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON places fifth in its fourth week out, still performing well with $22 million for Marvel Entertainment/Disney. Â Thus far it has grossed $412 million domestically.
FURIOUS 7 is in ninth spot for Universal Pictures in its eighth week with $2.2 million.
PAUL BLART: MALL COP 2Â rounds-out the Top Ten with $1.8 million for Sony Pictures, tallying-in at $66 million thus far in its run.
PITCH PERFECT 2 hits a high note with a stellar debut at the Box Office! Â The Musical-Comedy picks-up where its Predecessor left-off in 2012, earning $64 million from 3,473 theatres in its opening for Universal Pictures. Â In comparison, its Installment, opened wide with $15 million only. Critics gave it a solid 68% on the Tomatometer, while Audiences gave it an A- CinemaScore.
Despite big expectations of MAD MAX: FURY ROAD, it opens in second with a still-impressive $43 million for Warner Bros., from 3,702 theatres. Â This latest Chapter in a Franchise directed by George Miller which dates all the way back to 1980, is winning over Critics abound with an outstanding 98% on the Tomatometer and a B+ from Audiences. By comparison, the first Film in the Mad Max Series back in 1980 would go-on to gross $8.7 million, while Sequel Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome would earn $36 million in its run in 1985.
AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON in its third week still is going strong with $37 million for Disney/Marvel. Â In three weeks it has made a whopping $370 million domestically.
HOT PURSUIT is a distant fourth with $5.6 million for Warner Bros., now earning $26 million in its two weeks out thus far.
FURIOUS 7 is in fifth this weekend with $3.5 million in its seventh week out, now grossing $343 million.
Acclaimed Sci-Fi Flick EX_MACHINA is in ninth spot this weekend with $2 million for A24 Films/Mongrel Media, nearing the $20 million mark domestically.
FAR FROM THE MADDING CROWD rounds-out the Top Ten with $1.3 million for Fox Searchlight.
It’s been a while since we’ve gotten any news on it, but finally a new Trailer for AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON has arrived! Not quite as dark as the last one we saw, we get a better glimpse in two minutes of what exactly to expect. Â Fans of the Franchise certainly won’t be disappointed in this action-packed look!

Marvel certainly knows how to do it big and this morning at L.A.’s El Capitan Theatre we learned through President Kevin Feige not only that Breakout Star Chadwick Boseman (42, Get on Up) has confirmed what we’ve known all along – he’s a Megastar –  the brilliant Actor has been announced to star as BLACK PANTHER!
In addition, several release dates have been confirmed on their Blockbuster Marquee Slate including:

Impressive, right? Â We’re so waiting on DOCTOR STRANGE casting news, although we certainly aren’t alone in wanting Benedict Cumberbatch to get the assignment! Â The thought of 2019 actually kinda scares us on some levels!

Marvel release AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON on Friday, May 1, 2015.

Nobody does it bigger than Marvel at Comic-Con and while we were dreaming of being in San Diego, the Stars were out in full-force at the annual Convention.  Marvel in Hall H before 6,100+ Fans brought out the Casts of Avengers: Age of Ultron and also Ant-Man, the latter which is set to begin filming this August!  Despite much speculation of additional Films to come, Kevin Feige (Chief of Marvel Studios) would only confirm details of ones to come out in 2015.
Feige unveiled the impressive Cast of Ant-Man including:  Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Corey Stoll and Evangeline Lilly.  Stoll thanks to his turn on House of Cards, has seen his stock rise considerably and will be at TIFF ’14 this Fall with two Films!
Avengers: Age of Ultron was represented by some Heavyweights among others including Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson, Mark Ruffalo, Robert Downey Jr. (who is set to open TIFF ’14 with The Judge), Chris Hemsworth, Josh Brolin, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen – the latter three new to join the Franchise.
2015 certainly cannot come soon enough for us!
